Supporting landscape and communities in West Penwith

It's a very exciting time for this major Partnership project since the main project bid of £2.5M was awarded a Stage 2 Pass from the Heritage Lottery Fund early in 2018.  The project is lead by Cornwall Wildlife Trust, supported by the Cornwall AONB Unit, The Penwith Community Development Trust and Cornwall Council Historic Environment Service.

The project aims to achieve a ‘resilient living, working Penwith landscape where farming prospers while protecting natural resources, restoring habitat connectivity and enhancing archaeological heritage; a landscape that is loved, enjoyed and supported by local communities and visitors.’

That’s our parish

The Cornwall AONB Unit is the joint delivery partner on this project within the scheme that will work with 11 Parish Councils to develop a Local Landscape Character Assessment for their parishes throughout Penwith to help local people to gain an understanding, knowledge and appreciation of their local landscapes and what makes it so special.

We are also joint delivery partner on this project that will support local people in getting involved in community volunteering in all projects across Penwith and enable volunteers to get involve in the broad spectrum of work happening across the programme. This will offer local people the opportunity to take part in training opportunities and to learn new skills.
