The Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is one of four AONB’s chosen to celebrate ‘National Moment Day’. To kick start ‘Landscape for Life Week’ when hearts will be formed across the country in some of our most loved outstandingly beautiful landscapes on Saturday 21st September at 2pm.
For the first time ever, people in all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) are collectively forming hearts to show how much they love their own special landscapes. The Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also celebrating its Diamond Anniversary, it’s 60 years since the twelve sections that make up the Cornwall AONB were foirst designated in 1959.
Our heart will be formed in the centre of a large scale labyrinth being created as a sand art on Porthcurnick Beach on the Roseland Peninsula. The heart at the centre of our AONB labyrinth will remain in place until it is washed away by the incoming tide and represents the transient nature of our landscape which the AONB Partnership is charged with conserving and enhancing wherever and whenever possible.
