Cornwall AONB Management Plan 2004 - 2009
Local Authorities have a statutory duty under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 to produce a plan which sets out policies for managing the AONB
The first Management Plan (2004-2009) for the Cornwall AONB was published and adopted by the members of the Cornwall AONB Partnership in June 2004. You can view or download a copy from the links at the bottom of this page.
MANAGEMENT PLAN REVIEW
A review of the Plan commenced in September 2008 by the Cornwall AONB Partnership, on behalf of Cornwall Council (a statutory requirement under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000). As part of the review process, a scoping report was prepared to make an assessment of the purpose and structure of the review. The main considerations to take into account are:
-
Whether the current management plan is fit for purpose;
-
What areas of work are currently recognised as needing to be addressed in the review
-
What legislative/policy/strategy/actual changes have taken place that need to be incorporated into a new strategy
-
What benefits would be brought to the management of the AONB through the review
-
What resources are available for the AONB Unit to undertake the Review.
This scoping report responds to these questions and provided the essential ‘next steps’ in the review process. View the Scoping Report - March 2009.
Widespread consultation took place during 2009 with partners, stakeholders, parishes and community groups and the general public. A first draft went out for a statutory period of public consultation in August/Sept 2010. Following the public consultation comments, the new Plan for 2011-2016 has been produced and is available from this link. Paper copies are available from the Cornwall AONB Unit.
MANAGEMENT PLAN REVIEW SUSTAINABILITY APPRAISAL - SCOPING REPORT CONSULTATION
In addition, in order to comply with the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) regulations, the Management Plan Review was subject to a full Sustainability Appraisal (SA) which goes beyond an SEA to also address social and economic effects of the plan. A scoping report was produced which sets out the background and context of this work, along with the objectives against which the iterations of the Cornwall AONB Management Plan will be tested.
