The Cornwall AONB Management Plan sets out the agenda for the management of the protected landscape by the Cornwall AONB Partnership, over the coming 5 years. The revised Plan has been written in an inclusive way with a large public involvement process and many workshops and meetings with professionals and elected members during 2009 and 2010. In this way we hope to reflect everyone's views, priorities, hopes and aspirations for the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A draft went out for Public consultation during August and September 2010; it sought the views of all to ensure that the plan is comprehensive, accurate and most importantly that it is fit for purpose to deliver the conservation and enhancement of the amazing landscapes of the Cornwall AONB over the next five years.
Post Public Consultation changes
A common theme in the public consultation comments received was that the Plan was too long. Therefore, much of the supporting information has been taken out and placed in supporting, web based appendices (which will be available on this website). The printed Plan could therefore be smaller, focusing on the visions, policies and actions for the Strategic Chapters, and the guiding principles for the Local Sections. The Communications chapter will be removed and a separate Communications Plan will be produced.
Final Plan (post public consultation)
The Final Plan (post public consultation) has been agreed by the Cornwall AONB Partnership and was also adopted by the Cornwall Council Cabinet at its meeting on 16 February 2011.
Sustainability Appraisal
In order to comply with the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) regulations, the Management Plan is subject to a full Sustainability Appraisal (SA) which goes beyond an SEA to also address social and economic effects of the plan. The Draft SA was also out for public consultation from 2 August to 30 September 2010. An Addendum to the Sustainability Appraisal Report has been prepared which provides an assessment of the revised Management Plan policies and guiding principles.
